4 Really good reasons why you need to start lifting ASAP

Alright girlies, let’s solve this once and for all. You will NOT look like a dude if you lift. Not gonna lie, this is what I thought in the beginning too which is why I stuck to cardio. But that’s entirely false. You don’t have as much testosterone as men so you have absolutely nothing to worry about as far as bulking goes. Warning! TONING may occur. But that’s a good thing in our books 🙂 That’s exactly what we want! Here are 4 really good reasons why you need to start lifting ASAP.

You will burn more FAT

That’s right, you’ll burn fat during AND after your workout unlike cardio. Your body is using more oxygen which increases your metabolic rate.

You will catch more zzz’s

I find this to be true with any type of workout but apparently strength training helps you fall asleep quicker and stay asleep. I’ll take it!

You will have more energy

Grab a dumbbell over that afternoon energy drink! Remember how I said you’ll burn more fat? That increased energy expenditure lasts hours after your workout. Pretty cool, huh?

You won’t stress as much

It’s no secret that exercise is a great stress reliever. Who needs a therapist?? There’s something about strength training that makes you feel at ease for the rest of the day. If you’re absolutely pissed off, I recommend some COMBAT 🙂

Alright ladies, what’s the verdict? Will you give strength training a chance now? One thing I do need to warn you about is the scale. Throw it out. You will now be measuring your progress with a fat caliper. You can get them really cheap on Amazon. The scale is a scary thing. It shoots out numbers telling you that you’re overweight when the scale doesn’t even know you or what you look like! When you start lifting, you’ll be gaining muscle which also ups the number on the scale. Don’t freak. You are gaining muscle while losing fat. That’s exactly what you want. Rely on your non scale victories like fitting into your skinny jeans again to tell you whether or not you’re on track! And if you want to be able to write down your progress, use a fat caliper or measuring tape.

The important thing is that you feel good. If you feel your best doing cardio, keep at it! But I don’t want you to dis weight lifting just for the fear of bulking up. It won’t happen. Tell me, what’s your favorite way to exercise? COMMENT below 🙂
